Haglofs Riot II Jacket Review

Our Favourite Bits

  • Comfortable
  • Looks Great
  • Not Restrictive
  • Hood Stays Put

Waterproof jackets are very often the priciest bit of kit you are likely to buy during your lifetime in the hills. Outdoor enthusiasts no longer require hard shells to just be waterproof and more often than not, it’s the extra snazzy features that synch the deal.

The Scandinavians seem to have gotten it right with this jacket. This Riot II is the descendant of last season’s Riot jacket, which has not been changed in the slightest. Although I found the chest zips to be quite annoying, regularly catching the lining of the pockets, this jacket has proved itself to be one tough cookie.

Light scrambles or a long day on a hill whatever the weather, you will never find this jacket restrictive and uncomfortable. It’s pit zips enable quick ventilation for heated moments and there is more than enough room for head gear in its very adjustable friendly hood. As well as looking pretty cool on the crag, it doubles up as a smart, everyday street jacket. On a windy day, its hood will never fly back and catch you out- helmet or no helmet!

  • Lining: Polyester mesh shoulders and plain polyester sleeves
  • Waterproof and highly breathable to handle diverse weather conditions
  • Critical areas are reinforced in a durable fabric with stretch for increased comfort
  • Dual storm flap front closure
  • Removable 3-way adjustable hood
  • Watertight pit-zips for increased ventilation
  • One laminated chest pocket
  • Fleece-lined stand-alone collar
  • Three inner mesh pockets, one zipped
  • Single-hand adjustable hem
  • Articulated sleeves
  • Velcro adjustable cuffs

Great for: Maneuverability, breathability and toughness
Bad for: Side pocket zips catching on lining
Fitting: Will fit normal clothing sizing
