La Sportiva make some of the best rock shoes available and the Miura are in no way ready to break that mould.
These tasty numbers are available in two guises Miura and Miura VS. VS being the Velcro version as opposed to the classic lace up style. This choice does not affect the performance of the shoe, it’s just a personal choice. For me Velcro is what I’m looking for in a shoe, the lazier the better!
Touted as an all round rock shoe the Miura has an aggressive pointed toe, (derived from La sportivas Mirage range) coupled with nice sharp edges. The shoe allows good flexibility and a hooked profile that won’t cripple you.
The Miura are sheathed in the finest Vibram rubber using XS Edge technology. The XS Edge rubber equates to a high standard of durability and ensures edges keep their shape, but it still provides adequate grip and sensitivity.
I would suggest the Miura if you do a lot of edging and crack work. Although there is not much in the way of toe box protection the shoe is solid and comfortable without reducing sensitivity much.
So there you have it the La Sportiva Miura an excellent shoe for those into lead or trad climbing, maybe not so much for boulder work and overhangs. For sizes and availability follow this link to the La Sportiva website.
