I originally came across the women’s SmartWool hoody and thought ‘ooh like the look of that’. I decided to hunt online for the guys version because where I was didn’t have the male version.
Basically the SmartWool hoody’s is a form fitting, although the women’s looks like a compression layer, hiking hoody which is recommended for summiting (well, the medium weight is). Going on the see the female version and looking at the males, they’ve got the balaclava hood right. With just enough room to cover but not to get in the way, which I tend to have problem with. Also the coverage of the neck not too wide to let in lots of air but not tight enough to restrict movement.
It’s made of 100% Merino Wool which we all know it will keep you at the right temp and move any sweat away from the skin and of course will be comfortable.
SmartWool’s hoodys come in three weights:
- Mid-Wieght 250 g/m2
- Light Weight 195 g/m2
- Micro Weight 150 g/m2
I like them and I based on see the woman’s SmartWool hoody on a living person in ‘real life’ I reckon the the men’s hoody would fit just as well.
